University Leaders Urged To Adapt To Ideologies Of Creatively For Leadership Development
Julius Nyerere Leadership Centre in partnership with the united nations development programs and other stakeholders today carried out a 5 day 1st Cohort training aimed at skilling all guild presidents from various universities in Uganda on how they can effectively handle and manage their positions.
Julius Nyerere leader centre which also aims at developing a lasting legacy platform for knowledge production and sharing, learning and leadership development in Africa gathered all leaders at Protea Hotel by Marriott Kampala to teach and equip leaders with more knowledge.
Julius Nyerere Leadership Centre initiative which was launched by the President at Makerere University on 6th October 2018, was to establish a link between lived experiences of leaders and ideologies to creatively deliver a world-class sustainable and coordinated regional approach to experiential learning and leadership development. Today gathered all guild presidents, guild speakers and guild ministers from Uganda Christian University, Makerere University, and Gulu University to attend 5 days of training aimed at expanding their understanding and sharing knowledge on how they can be able to govern in their respective and to portray an exemplary leadership image to the country.
Dr Nansozi K. Muwanga, the executive director of Julius Nyerere leader centre said that this training is uplifting young leaders of various universities for the better of the country.
She added that this training will also help in improving communications skills, it also looks at initiating Kiswahili language to all university leaders to strengthen their relationship with other leaders in the East African company.
Dr Simba Sallie Kayunga urged the leaders to do more teamwork to be able to come up with solutions rather than relying on money which isn’t a key to everything.
Cou family t.v spoke to some of the leaders who attend the training, and these shared their expectations and what they acquired, however, they highlighted some of the challenges that they face as leaders in their various positions which hinder the achievement of their leadership goals.
The organizers of the training revealed that some universities ignored the invitation believing they have it all yet they are expected to learn more as leaders.
The 2nd cohort will take place on 31st July- 1st August 2023 and all university leaders shall represent their institutions.
