Easter season: Archbishop Kaziimba speaks hope and peace
The Archbishop of the Church of Uganda The Most Rev. Dr. Stephen Samuel Kaziimba has delivered a message of “hope beyond death” as Christians worldwide celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ this weekend.
Addressing the Press at his residence, He said that because Jesus has risen from the dead, the affliction Christians are experiencing is not the last word in their lives and neither is death.
The Archbishop also condemned the acts of brutality and murder by the panga welding squad (Bijambiya) in Nansana and urged the government to ensure all citizens are safe and secure in their homes and communities, particularly in this period of Easter.
He also urged parents to be more vigilant and take care of their children so that we curb the incidences of rape and unwanted pregnancies which escalated more during the lockdowns.
Archbishop Kaziimba expressed concern over the high number of domestic violence cases that disintegrate homes and called on families to engage in dialogue to solve conflicts.
He also called upon Christians to pray for peace to prevail in Ukraine which has been in a row with Russia adding that Jesus came to cross out all our indifferences and reconcile us and give us peace.
He also congratulated COU Dioceses that received their new Bishops including Kumi, Nebbi and Northern Uganda and urged Christians to pray for peaceful transitions in their dioceses.
Finally, The Archbishop who thanked the government for lifting the lockdown cautioned Christians to continue observing SOPs and to avoid prolonged Church services and other social gatherings to avoid the spread of COVID 19.
