All roads lead to the ballot tomorrow as LC1 elections officially get underway across the country. Millions of eligible voters are expected to cast their ballots to choose village chairpersons and shape the future of grassroots leadership.

Electoral authorities have assured the public of their readiness while urging voters to turn out peacefully and candidates to respect electoral laws by avoiding voter bribery, intimidation, and violence. The elections mark an important step in strengthening democracy and local governance at the community level.

Today marks the close of campaigns for the LC1 elections in more than 71,000 villages across the country, bringing weeks of canvassing to an end ahead of tomorrow's vote.

The Electoral Commission has urged all eligible voters to prepare for polling day by confirming their polling stations, carrying the required identification, and turning out early to cast their ballots peacefully.

Candidates have also been reminded to observe the electoral laws, with a warning against voter bribery, intimidation, and any acts that could undermine a free and fair election.

Senior Election Officer Richard Nsubuga says only registered voters will be allowed to vote.

He stressed that residents who did not register will not be permitted to cast their ballots, even if they present a National ID at the polling station.

The Electoral Commission has urged all voters to remain at their polling stations after casting their ballots to witness the vote counting and declaration of results.

The Commission also called on voters and candidates to uphold a peaceful, free, fair, and transparent electoral process.
