Vice President Appeals To Teachers On Moral Decadence

The Vice President of Uganda Major (Rtd) Jessica Alupo has asked teachers in the country to address the challenge of high moral decadence which is affecting the education sector.

Alupo made the appeal while addressing teachers in Kakumiro district at Kakeeka playground.

She urged teachers to equip students with ethical skills in order to produce morally upright members of the society.

During the education transformation training of teachers that took place at Kakeeka playground Kakumiro district, the Vice President of the Republic of Uganda, Major (Rtd) Jessica Alupo appealed to teachers to not only consider teaching in class but also ensure they model the children holistically to reduce on moral decadence in the country.

Alupo lauded the teachers in the country for the work they are doing and assured them that government is committed to address issues affecting them.

While addressing the teachers, Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja expressed concern over low performance of schools in spite of government’s efforts to invest in the sector.

Nabbanja also notes that some teachers cannot concentrate on teaching because of the multiple loans acquired

The Minister of State for Education in Charge of Higher Education Dr. Chrysostom Muyiingo warned teachers against drunkardness and absenteeism which he says will not be tolerated by government.

Kakumiro district education officer William Baleke says that education transformation requires concerted efforts of the parents, Teachers and the pupils.

The education transformation stakeholder’s engagement was organized by the office of the Prime Minister to address gaps in the education sector and will be rolled out to other districts in the entire country.

The engagement was also addressed by the state minister for public service Mary Grace Mugasa, Prime Minister’s delivery unit, Education ministry officials among others.
