While addressing the media today, the Acting Director of Defence Public Information, Col. Chris Magezi, announced that the UPDF will soon commence the recruitment of qualified Ugandan professionals into various service branches. He said the exercise is intended to attract competent and patriotic citizens to support the force’s growing professional needs.
Col. Magezi said the recruitment process will officially begin on 10th June 2026. He urged all interested applicants to ensure they possess the required qualifications and meet the eligibility criteria. Applicants must be Ugandan citizens and present a valid National Identification Card, recommendation letters from LC I, LC II, LC III Chairpersons, the Resident District Commissioner (RDC), and the Parish Internal Security Officer (PISO). Col. Magezi revealed that the physical recruitment exercise will take place from 20th July to 1st August 2026. He added that the UPDF will observe regional balance during the exercise, taking into consideration population statistics from different parts of the country.
The UPDF is seeking professionals in a wide range of fields, including Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Engineering, Aviation, Health Services, Legal Practice, Education, Sports, and Music for the UPDF Band. Applicants are required to possess relevant academic qualifications from recognized institutions, including degrees and postgraduate qualifications where applicable.
Col. Magezi also cautioned the public against fraudsters and individuals claiming to be UPDF recruitment agents. He emphasized that the entire recruitment process is free of charge and warned applicants not to pay money to anyone promising assistance or influence.
He added that anyone masquerading as a recruitment agent should be reported immediately to security authorities for appropriate action, stressing that such cases will be treated seriously.
