Uganda prison service moves to curb insecurity
Uganda Prison Service has embarked on training and equipping prison officers as a move to counter criminality.
This follows the recent threats on security agencies in the country leading to loss of lives and theft of guns among armed forces.
In an exclusive interview with Church Of Uganda Family TV, Uganda Prisons Service Spokesperson, Commissioner Frank Baine briefed us about the decision taken on security alerts in the country mainly targeting the armed forces.
Baine further notes that the security alert is an awakening call to the Uganda Prisons Service Commission staff in this festive season which comes with excitement and may result into prisoner’s escape.
However, Church of Uganda Family TV tasked him to give a clue on the solutions undertaken to curb the situation.
The Uganda Prison service commission is short of more than 39000 personnel making the force operate at 27% of the required capacity.
