SEATINI To Mark 30 Years Of Shaping Africa's Trade Future:SEATINI Celebrates Three Decades Of Trade And Investment Advocacy.Digital Transformation Highlighted As Key To Africa's Trade Agenda.

The Southern and Eastern Africa Trade, Information and Negotiations Institute (SEATINI) is preparing to celebrate 30 years of strengthening Africa's voice in global trade. Ahead of the milestone, the organization's deputy executive director, Herbert Kafeero, reflected on achievements in trade, taxation, and investment reforms while emphasizing the need for digital transformation and stronger policies to safeguard Africa's interests.



As the Southern and Eastern Africa Trade, Information, and Negotiations Institute (SEATINI) prepares to celebrate 30 years of strengthening Africa in global trade, the organization's deputy executive director highlighted key milestones achieved over the years, including improvements in trade policies, taxation, investment, and regional economic advocacy.



Kafeero emphasized the need for stronger policies that protect and advance Africa's interests, noting that institutions advocating for equitable trade and sustainable development remain critical to the continent's future.



He also underscored the importance of embracing digital transformation, saying stakeholders have been engaged to accelerate digitalization across the region. Kafeero acknowledged that challenges remain but stressed that African countries must work together to overcome them.



The Southern and Eastern Africa Trade, Information and Negotiations Institute (SEATINI) will commemorate its 30th anniversary on 29th July 2026 under the theme "Advancing Africentric Alternatives for Equitable and Sustainable Development." The celebration will feature the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for East African Community Affairs, Hon. Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga, alongside other distinguished speakers.
