Prime Minister Nabbanja Denies Receiving Evil Karamoja Iron Sheets
Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja has denied receiving iron sheets meant for the Karamoja sub-region.
The Rt. Hon. Nabbanja explained that the iron sheets she received were from the Ministry of Disaster Preparedness earmarked for the Bunyoro sub-region. The Premier is also the Woman MP for Kakumiro District in Bunyoro.
The Rt. Hon. Nabbanja explained as he appeared before the Presidential Affairs Committee of Parliament chaired by Adjumani MP Jessica Ababiku. The committee is currently investigating the Karamoja iron sheets scandal.
Adjumani District Woman MP, Jessica Ababiku, who chairs the Presidential Affairs Committee of Parliament, led her colleagues for an interaction with Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja at the Premier’s office in Kampala.
The committee is investigating the alleged abuse and diversion of iron sheets meant for vulnerable people in the Karamoja sub-region.
The Rt. Hon. Nabbanja told the committee that she did not receive any of the iron sheets meant for the Karamoja region. She acknowledged receiving 500 pieces of iron sheets and signed them signed on behalf of the Kakumiro people who had experienced a disaster and needed relief.
The Prime Minister suggested to the committee that part of the solution could be to have all those who irregularly received iron sheets meant for Karamoja to return them to the Ministry of Karamoja Affairs which is under the Office of the Prime Minister.
When asked whether she had failed to supervise ministers, Rt. Hon. Nabbanja said that all Ministers are adults and know what they are supposed to do in their dockets.
The chairperson of the presidential parliamentary committee Jessica Ababiku said that their investigations are ongoing.
