Speaking during a media briefing at police headquarters in Naguru, police spokesperson Fred ENANGA has confirmed a 20m shillings award to be given to whoever provides information about the renowned pastor, Aloysius Bugingo’s assailants.
This follows the pastor’s attempted murder by shooting that resulted in the death of his bodyguard, Cpl Richard Muhumuza last week.
On the night of 2nd January 2024, at around 9 pm along Namungoona, in Rubaga Division, renowned pastor Aloysius Bugingo, allegedly survived an attempted murder by shooting, and claims are that he was left with injuries, and a dead bodyguard, Corporal Richard Muhumuza.
Today, police spokesperson Fred Enanga has announced a 20 million shillings bounty to be rewarded to whoever provides accurate information leading to the arrest of the suspects behind the shooting that happened on the night of 2nd January 2024.
The police spokesperson also noted that work concerning extensive investigations into the shooting has been taken over by the Special Investigations Division of the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) at Kibuli.
Enanga said that lead-in investigations indicated that there are similar motives behind Bugingo’s shooting incident and that of the late blogger Ismail Tusuubira alias Olaxxes’ murder last year including the weapon, a pistol used in both incidents.
The police spokesperson condemned social media users for spreading propaganda, calling for sympathy towards the victim’s family, and warning the public to desist from falling prey to the consequences of misinformation, as investigations are ongoing.
