FDC President Amuriat Urges Members To Use Social Media To Build The Party
The opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party has sent out a team of sixty members who have been retooled to train and introduce other members in various parts of the country to new approaches in mobilization and recruitment.
This was the first cohort of a new FDC program known as the Leadership Academy. The FDC Party President, Patrick Amuriat Oboi urged the members to focus on building the party from the grassroots and make better use of social media in their mobilization work.
About sixty trainees have been at the new Leadership Academy of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party for three days. They were retooled in new ways of mobilization and member recruitment.
The FDC Party President, Patrick Amuriat Oboi launched the Leadership Academy and urged the new cohort to go out and preach the FDC message of socio-economic and political change to different parts of the country as they recruit new members.
Walid Mulindwa, the Chairperson of the FDC Youth League, said that the training targeted women and youth and he is confident that the trainees will make good use of the modules and skills they have acquired from the training.
The Chairperson of the FDC Electoral Commission, Toterebuka Bamwenda urged the trainees to engage in research and always talk from an informed point of view.
FDC Party President Patrick Oboi Amuriat urged the trainees to focus on building the party from the grassroots.
He also urged the trainees to positively use social media instead of tarnishing the names of other people and political parties. Oboi also dismissed claims that FDC is no longer strong.
The trainees committed themselves to using the skills they have acquired in the training to build the party.
The Leadership Academy is one of the key programs in the FDC Strategic Plan 2023 and it will be rolled out to all regions of Uganda. The training in the Eastern region will be held in Iganga, a Western region in Kasese, Central in Mityana, and Greater North in Arua under the theme “Building FDC to Serve Better.
