Archbishop Dr. Kaziimba-Mugalu Asks Christians To Pray Ahead Of GAFCON In Kigali

The Archbishop of the church of Uganda, His Grace the Most Rev. Dr. Samuel Stephen Kazimba Mugalu has encouraged Christians to pray for the 4th Global Anglican Future Conference (GAFCON) to be held in Kigali Rwanda from 17th to 21st April 2023.

The Archbishop made the comments earlier today at his palace during the pre-GAFCON press conference.

The conference comes at a time when the Church of Uganda has indicated its readiness to part ways with the Church of England after it adopted a policy to bless same-sex marriages.

The GAFCON Movement is a global family of authentic Anglicans standing together to retain and restore the respect and sanctity of the Bible to the heart of the Anglican Communion.

His Grace the Most Rev. Dr. Samuel Stephen Kaziimba Mugalu, the Archbishop of the Church of Uganda noted with concern that the leadership structure of the Global Anglican Communion has allowed false teaching to spread to other Anglican churches in the world.

The Archbishop added that the church of Uganda is prepared to join other churches in Kigali Rwanda next week for the GAFCON 2023 Conference which will chart the way forward for Anglicans who reject the act by the Church of England, the historical church in the Anglican Union, which has deviated from Biblical teachings. The Church of England has taken a controversial decision to bless same-sex marriages.

The Rev. Can John Senyonyi, the chairperson of the Organising Committee GAFCON Uganda Chapter, applauded Christians of the church of Uganda for the passion they have shown to participate in GAFCON by paying to go to Kigali and dedicating their time to the conference.

The Archbishop encouraged Christians who will not be in Rwanda to follow the conference live on COU FAMILY TV.

Rev. Can Dr. Alison Barfoot, the Archbishop's Assistant for International Relations and Director of Communications at the Provincial Secretariat, added that the conference will be live-streamed on the Church of Uganda website as well. She also announced that the Archbishop will give a live update at the end of the GAFCON proceedings on Friday 21st April in Kigali.
