Residents burn car of suspected livestock thieves
Angry residents in Nyarugabu village, Kiduuma west ward in Hoima West division, last night at about1am swung into action against persons they suspected to be livestock thieves and burnt a Toyota Corolla car registration number UAH 799A.
Nyarugaba local council one Chairperson, Delson Mwesigwa has explained what exactly transpired. Mwesigwa says that continued cattle theft has left residents angry yet when reported to police, these are released shortly after which explains the mob justice.
Several leaders have condemned the act of mob justice but also lauded the community for the quick actions against the cattle thieves
Kasibante says due to increased theft in the area, locals have been mobilized to be vigilant. Kasibante now wants police and magistrates to stop giving bond and bail to suspected livestock thieves. It is estimated that about 70 animals have been stolen in the last one month.
