Christians Throng Places Of Worship To Mark Ash Wenesday
Religious leaders have asked Ugandans to repent and work for the good of humanity as Christians joined the rest of the world to commemorate Ash Wednesday, which marks the start of the holy Lenten period leading to Easter.
The Provost of All Saints Cathedral Kampala, Dr. Rev. Can. Rebecca Nyegenye who led the Ash Wednesday service at All Saints Cathedral Kampala urged Christians to be known by their fruits.
At Christ the King Catholic parish, the Parish priest of Christ The King and Vicar General of Kampala Archdiocese Monsignor Gerald Kalumba urged Catholics to renew their faith and repent sincerely.
Our reporter Joy Nabulo traversed different places of worship to witness the marking of the beginning of the forty-day fasting period before Easter and she starts us off tonight.
Ash Wednesday is one of the most important and popular days on the liturgical calendar. Ash Wednesday opens Lent, a season of fasting and prayer. Ash Wednesday, takes place 46 days before ester Sunday
The practice involves wearing ashes on the forehead. The ashes symbolize the dust from which God made us
It is important to remember that Ash Wednesday is a day of penitential prayer and fasting. I wish you a fruitful lent period full of love, repentance, forgiveness, giving, and sharing.
